Portfolio
Here’s some of my work. These are blogs I continue to actively work on: writing, designing, marketing, etc.
Connected Content
Whitney Potsus hired me to redo her blog’s theme, which was an un-modified template that didn’t match her current website. She wanted something simple, clean and crisp, that would emphasize and maintain the focus on her writing. We kept the top as basic as possible, drawing the user’s attention to the content, and keeping the content high above the fold. The sidebar is uncluttered, and uses a few key plugins to improve the navigation of her blog.
Bill Baren’s Blog
Bill Baren asked me to help with the overall mission, goals and vision for his blog, which is wonderfully subtitled, “The Creative Intersection Between Business and Life.” Bill is an uber-coach helping small business owners and entrepreneurs reach their potential. He’s an excellent communicator, visionary and inspirational. Still, Bill recognized he needed to inject some life and focus into his blog. Bill and I continue to work together, unleashing Bill’s authentic blog voice and creating a vibrant community.
Instigator Blog
Instigator Blog is my own personal blog, covering issues of entrepreneurship, blogging, technology and running small businesses. It uses the Torn WordPress theme with a number of helpful plugins to maximize search engine optimization and usability. The look of Instigator Blog is perfect for a more technology-oriented small business or startup, or consultants and businesses looking for a Web 2.0 style.
Infiniti Landscaping
Infiniti Landscaping is a landscaping and renovations company in Phoenix, Arizona. The site resembles a more traditional website, but includes a blog as well. The entire site was built using WordPress, which gives its owners an easy publishing platform and plenty of flexibility in future updates they make to the site. The Portfolio page has a dynamic slideshow built with photo-sharing site Flickr. We provided design, technical and copywriting services.
The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show
The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show is a weekly podcast by Jimmy Moore on the low-carb lifestyle. The blog uses the Cutline WordPress theme which is a very clean, simplistic look. It’s great for small businesses or entrepreneurs in technology, web development, marketing or other businesses that are visually-focused. The blog has a bold, but welcoming appearance without being overly flashy.
The Great Big Small Business Show
The Great Big Small Business Show is a weekly podcast tackling small business and entrepreneurial issues. The blog uses a modified version of the Dark Maple WordPress theme, giving it a very down-to-earth, comfortable feeling. The goal was to create a professional site that didn’t feel overly high-tech. The podcast serves a wide spectrum of small business people and entrepreneurs from many industries, and the blog reflects a more traditional website appearance because of that.
